My Budget Adventure

Recently, I had been thinking of ways to start blogging again or to finish my short stories.  During the year 2017, certain events occurred that were not controllable nor avoidable.  That is another story.  I watch a lot of YouTube and discovered a plethora of videos on budgeting.  I researched and looked at plenty of videos on budgeting.  The most popular is the Dave Ramsey’s cash envelope system.  Reading through the process of keeping up with cash envelopes, the process is developed into baby steps.  After reading how his process works, I decided I wasn’t doing those baby steps nor was I holding on to $1000.00 for emergencies.  I discovered people using this system don’t actually do all those steps.  I figured I should give it a try.  I have a personal planner that I never used with dividers and other things in it.  I had blue envelopes along with other office supplies.  I’m an office supply junkie.  I wrote down what bills I have to pay each month and decided how much cash to put in each envelope.

My list of cash envelopes:

  • Rent
  • Pets
  • Groceries
  • Fast Food
  • Wal-Mart
  • Dollar Tree
  • Office Supplies
  • Christmas 2018
  • Vacation
  • Misc.
  • Money Challenge

The reason for those categories is because I love to shop at Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart.  It is difficult for me to stay at a minimum of money when I go to those places.  It is your preference of the categories of envelopes you want.  I also created a budget binder.  I also looked at a lot of YouTube videos for that purpose.  I got ideas from YouTube videos and websites (blogs).  Most of my budget forms I created come from other people who sell them or displayed them on their websites and YouTube channel.  I basically made my binder to my comfort and the easiness of keeping track of my budget.  I will display pictures of my binder and envelopes soon.
